On October 3rd to 6th the WKKF Koshiki Karate World championships were held in Brisbane. Representing 13 countries, over 200 competitors put their best foot forward to bring home World rankings. Karen & Isobel King from the Glen Innes branch of the Jin Ryu Kan dojo attended the World Championships representing both Glen Innes and Australia along with other locals Shihan Lisa Marshall, Sensei Fay Rees and Sensei Layletta Williams-Boney.
1000112896Isobel backed up her Reserve National Title in Kumite (fighting) bringing home a Bronze in the 10-11yrs female Kumite! Isobel also placed 9th in her kata (pattern) class making her in the top ten World ranking.
Karen followed her daughter to also bring home a Bronze in the Veteran Female Open Kumite. Karen also placed 9th and 17th in her Open & Veteran kata Classes.
“It was an amazing experience to compete at a world level with my daughter and one we will never forget.” said Karen. All eyes are set on the tournaments next year with the hopes of bringing home more  titles.
