Glen Innes to Celebrate Harmony Day with Community Event

Glen Innes Severn Council is inviting the community to a special Harmony Day event on 21 March 2025, celebrating the region’s rich cultural diversity and fostering inclusivity.

With almost 20 per cent of local residents born overseas, the event will provide an opportunity for the community to come together, share traditions and appreciate the many cultures that contribute to the identity of the Glen Innes Severn area.

Mayor Margot Davis highlighted the importance of the event in recognising the contributions of diverse backgrounds to the community.

“Our community is enriched by people from diverse backgrounds, and Harmony Day is a chance to acknowledge and celebrate that,” Cr Davis said. “It’s about embracing different traditions, sharing stories and fostering a sense of belonging for everyone.”

The free event will be held at the Glen Innes & District Services Club from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM and will feature a variety of activities, food and entertainment. Attendees will be able to enjoy complimentary tea, coffee and morning tea while participating in activities that showcase the importance of cultural diversity and the value it brings to the community.
