Glen Innes will play host to the New England North West Tourism and Placemaking Forum on Thursday, 14 August 2025, an event set to bring together leaders and innovators to explore opportunities for regional tourism and vibrant community spaces.

The half-day forum, held at the Glen Innes & District Services Club, is hosted by Business NSW New England North West and Glen Innes Severn Council, with support from Glen Innes News. It will focus on building authentic, future-focused destinations, attracting visitors and potential newcomers, and strengthening the region’s community spirit.

Keynote speakers will include The Hon. Kevin Anderson MP, Shadow Minister for Tourism, and NSW Government’s 24-Hour Economy Commissioner, Michael Rodrigues. They will be joined by Mayor Margot Davis of Glen Innes Severn Council, Fiona Barden from Destination Country & Outback NSW, and Kate McGrath from the Local Jobs Program New England North West.

Mayor Davis said hosting the forum was “a privilege and a reflection of Glen Innes’s growing role in shaping the future of the New England.” She added, “This forum is a powerful opportunity to spark ideas, strengthen partnerships and reimagine how we bring our places to life. Glen Innes is ready to share our story, listen and help lead the way toward a more vibrant and resilient regional economy.”

Business NSW New England North West Regional Director Diane Gray said the event aimed to connect the region’s “change-makers” to address both tourism and broader community needs. “This forum is about facilitating conversations not just around tourism, but the broader needs of our communities, from infrastructure to liveability and everything in between,” she said.

The program includes a regional panel discussion on key issues and opportunities, followed by a networking lunch. Attendance is free, but spaces are limited.

The Glen Innes forum is the second in a series of New England North West regional events.
