Great Global Greyhound Walk 2025

The Great Global Greyhound Walk (GGGW) is an annual dog-walking event that brings
together sighthounds and their owners to raise awareness of sighthounds as pets. Beginning
as the Great British Greyhound Walk in 2010, it expanded over time to involve other
sighthounds and become a global event. In 2024, a total of 13,383 sighthounds walked at
511 events in 42 countries around the world.

In addition to the relatively well-known greyhounds, whippets and Italian greyhounds, the
sighthounds category also includes lurchers, deerhounds, wolfhounds, salukis, Afghan
hounds, borzois and the Spanish galgos podencos, and Ibizan hounds.

For what we believe is the first time, there will be an edition of the GGGW right here in Glen
Innes. All sighthounds are welcome, along with other breeds from a sighthound family.
If you are considering adding a sighthound to your family, the GGGW is a great opportunity
to meet sighthounds and their owners and find out more about sighthounds as pets.

The Glen Innes walk will be held at Centennial Parklands and will commence at the
Australian Standing Stones before heading up past the Skywalk for a loop around the top
paddock and then back down for another loop of the Stones. A shorter walk around the
Stones is available for hounds and humans with limited mobility. Attendees are encouraged
to stick around for a BYO picnic afterwards; refreshments will also be available at Crofters
Cottage.

Each GGGW is organised by volunteers and is free to attend. The Glen Innes walk is
organised by Nicola and Andrew Neil, who organised four editions of the GGGW in
Newcastle and Maitland before relocating to Glen Innes last year.

The Great Global Greyhound Walk Glen Innes will be held at the Australian Standing Stones
at 10am on Sunday 28 September 2025.
