In last week's cricket fixture the Club Hotel Colts took on the Elks. The seasons previous encounter between these two had seen a scorebook controversy, with Brendan smith misinforming the players on the field how many runs where needed for a victory. This resulted in Colts getting the win, which funnily enough is the team Smithy plays for. Coincidence or something more nefarious? In last Fridays cricket match at King George Oval the Club Hotel Colts took on the RSL and, with the days lengthening and good clear conditions, a full 20-20 was played in a match which would go down to the wire, needing every ball to be bowled to determine the winner. Last Friday 29th November saw a match between Elks and RSL. The game got underway at the scheduled start of 5:00 but was shortened to a 16 over match in anticipation of bad light at the end of the day because of overcast conditions. Attempts are being made to revive a Saturday or Sunday cricket competition in Glen Innes. A sport which was extremely strong in the town in the past, has fallen by the wayside in recent times.
