From snippets sourced from the 1926 Glen Innes Examiner the Show was very different 100 years ago. ‘In Glen Innes shows have been held almost continuously since 1870, when in conjunction with Inverell the first carnival took place on the recreation ground at the back of the present Intermediate High School (now the Public School) -and the only shelter was that provided by tarpaulins. More Than A Saddlery

The Second Time Round Saddlery at 17 Oliver Street, Glen Innes not only sells second hand saddles and equipment for horses, fishing lures, feed and so much more, but also provides a safe haven for those ex-navy and ex-army veterans in the Glen Innes area. The saddlery, open since 2022, is run by Tegan Harwood and Tracey Waters. Tegan herself is a twelve year veteran of the navy. Betta Appliances Takes First Place In Shop Window Competition

The elaborate and creative window display at Betta Appliances has taken out the honours in this year’s Glen Innes Show Society shop window competition. The electrical store defeated second place Timbs Pharmacy with Pacific Furniture a close third. The Betta window display featured miniature representations of many treasured attractions of the Glen Innes Show including the Tea Rooms, animal nursery, demolition derby and even the bar. The quality of entries this year was incredibly high, and the judges of the shop window competition no doubt faced a very difficult task in deciding the winner.
