PLC Armidale continues to set the benchmark for academic excellence in the New England North West, achieving outstanding results in both NAPLAN and the 2025 Higher School Certificate (HSC) and reinforcing its standing as one of the region’s leading schools.
Recently released 2025 NAPLAN data on the ACARA MySchool website confirms PLC Armidale as the strongest-performing school overall in the region, with students consistently achieving results above the national average and above those of statistically similar schools across most tested domains in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9.
In the 2025 HSC, 46 per cent of students achieved an ATAR above 85, including 27 per cent above 90 and 19 per cent above 95. The College’s Joint Dux, Amelie van der Werf, achieved the highest ATAR in the region with a score of 99.1. PLC Armidale was ranked 69th in NSW on The Daily Telegraph list of high-performing schools and was the highest-ranked school in northern NSW.
Principal Mrs Nicola Taylor said the results reflect a consistent and personalised approach to learning, combining academic rigour with strong pastoral care in an environment where every girl is known, supported and challenged. Head of Senior School Mrs Kate Clynch highlighted the breadth of opportunity available to students across academic, creative, sporting, outdoor and vocational pathways, supported by expert teaching and small class sizes.
Families are invited to experience the PLC Armidale advantage at the Principal’s Tour and Senior School 2027 Scholarship Examination on Thursday, 19 February 2026. With a long tradition of educating young women to lead lives of significance, PLC Armidale offers a nurturing all-girls environment where academic excellence and personal growth go hand in hand.
