“The Greatest Show in Town”: Glen Innes Prepares for Historic Annual Celebration
Glen Innes is gearing up for one of the New England region’s most cherished events – the Glen Innes Show. Running for over 150 years, this iconic celebration, first held in 1869, is widely regarded as one of the finest agricultural shows in New South Wales, and often hailed as the Royal of the North. The 2026 show will take place from Friday, 13 February to Sunday, 15 February.
A Jam-Packed Program
Visitors can look forward to a full schedule across 39 sections, showcasing everything from livestock and equestrian events to folk art and local craftsmanship. Highlights include:
- Friday: Official opening ceremony. Rodeo – starting around 6.30pm. Fireworks at approx. 9pm
- Saturday: The Grand Parade at 4:00 pm, followed by the Saturday Night Extravaganza, featuring Stunt revolution (8pm), fireworks (9pm) and the Demolition Derby (9.30pm).
- Sunday: Family favourites return with the Campdraft, Pet Show, and a range of interactive, family-friendly activities
Entertainment for Everyone
Beyond traditional agricultural displays, the show offers modern attractions to suit all ages. Food lovers can enjoy the Gourmet Fiesta, highlighting local producers with demonstrations by celebrity chef Matt Golinski. Families can explore Side Show Alley with rides and games, or experience the new Performance Pavilion, showcasing local musicians, dancers, and artisans. Other outside arena attractions include Wow Encounters Reptile Display, Coast to Coast Synthetic Ice Rink, Super Fish Tank and Troppo Bob Magic Comedy Show

The Glen Innes Showground, a state heritage-listed site, provides the perfect backdrop. Its Federation-style timber buildings encircle a central arena, shaded by an avenue of historic trees planted as early as 1897.
