Dear Editor: Congrats on the Glen Innes News. For context, I'm not a local, but often stop at Glen Innes to enjoy a coffee, whilst commuting between Armidale and Brisbane. Just some comments on the current rail renewal versus rail trail debate: 1) The revival of rail is a global phenomenon. Dear Mayor and Councillors, April and May are my favourite time of year. Not only because of autumn colours but also because of two special community events: ANZAC Day and the Celtic festival. It was these events in particular that gave me the true feeling of being a part of the community and it was that sense of community that ultimately led to my desire to become an Australian citizen. Barnaby states in his opinion piece in your last issue that "If a boy is over school .... then they should consider going into trade and work etc. As a former TAFE teacher I think clarification is required on entry level requirements. Most trades require at least year 12 maths together with that comprehension level in order to successfully complete the off the job training otherwise his suggestion about work may suit many who are otherwise "over school" - N Zsoldos, Glen Innes

In the lead up to our 2024 Christmas, the Society of St Vincent de Paul (Vinnies) provided extra support to 84 individuals and families in our Glen Innes community. Taking the form of $100 Coles Gift Cards and donated Lions Christmas Cakes, from the local Lions Club, support was well received and appreciated. Thanks to financial support from St Joseph’s Catholic School, the Services Club, furniture sales from the former Convent, individual donations and from our local Vinnies shop, the Society was in a sound position to provide much needed support across the Community.
