Photo Competition Terms & Conditions

 

  • The competition runs fortnightly, in concurrence with the print schedule of Glen Innes News. The closing date and time for the photo competition associated with each issue of Glen Innes News shall be the same as the copy and artwork deadline for that issue.
  • Entrants may submit more than one entry, however all entries must be submitted separately.
  • Photos MUST:
    Be taken in the Glen Innes Severn Council local government area or include subject matter which is related to it.
    Be submitted in JPEG or PNG format and at a high-quality resolution to be used for printing and exhibition purposes (300 DPI, 2mg minimum).
    No selfies.
  • Entrants consent to their full names and/or their entries being used in all media, reports, and for promotional purposes by Glen Innes News at no cost to Glen Innes News. Entrants acknowledge and agree they may be required to participate in promotional activities while taking up the Prize.
  • You warrant that all your entries are your independent creation and free of any claims that they infringe any third-party rights. You agree to indemnify Glen Innes News against any costs that Glen Innes News may incur as a result of any intellectual property rights infringement.
  • Entries must not have been published previously and/or have been used to win prizes in any other competitions.
  • Be submitted via the submission form
  • This competition is free and open to all ages. Entrants under the age of 18 must gain permission from their parents or guardian to enter the competition. Permission must be provided to us via email info@gleninnesnews.com.au
  • Photos can be taken with any camera, drone or phone.
  • If showing faces, you must have permission of any people in the photo.
  • The winning entrant must agree to be contacted by Glen Innes News via email provided when submitting images.
  • Glen Innes News reserves the right to request proof of identity and residence at the nominated Prize delivery address and proof of entry validity, to claim a Prize. Acceptance of proof of eligibility is at the discretion of Glen Innes News.
  • All valid entries are automatically entered into the Winner Selection process.
  • Glen Innes News reserves the right to disqualify any entrant submitting an entry which, in its opinion, includes objectionable content.
  • This Competition is a game of skill and chance will play no part in determining the Winner. Each entry will be individually judged, based upon creative merit.
  • The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • If the Winner is not able to redeem the Prize on the specified date/s, Glen Innes News may determine another Winner in its absolute discretion.
  • By entering, you grant Glen Innes News the right to:
    Maintain a digital copy of the photograph.
    Reproduce the photo in any media format, including but not limited to advertisements, postcards, brochures, posters, television/print media, website, social media, strategies and annual reports. Glen Innes News will acknowledge you in all publicity as the creator of the Photograph.
    Make any adjustments to the photo which Glen Innes News may determine are necessary in order for the photo to be used for any of the purposes for which it is required (e.g adjustments of brightness and contrast or cropping). Any adjustments made will not alter the overall subject of the photo.
  • Safety is key. Entrants must not do anything that puts the entrant and/or other people in dangerous situations to secure an image. This includes jumping safety fences and standing close to cliffs. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, Glen Innes News (including its officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal or permanent injury or loss of life; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the competition.
  • Entrants must not injure or do anything to put wildlife under distress to secure an image.
  • Glen Innes News assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft, destruction or unauthorised access to, or alterations of entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available. If for any reason this Competition is not capable of running as planned, due to causes including, but not limited to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administrative security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Competition, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion, to take any action that may be available to the fullest extent permitted by law, including to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition.
  • Entry into the Competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions. Information relating to the Competition and the above Schedule form part of the terms and conditions for the Competition. Glen Innes News may vary these terms and conditions from time to time at its sole discretion.

Winners Selection:

  • The Winner will be selected from all valid entries by a person or persons nominated by Glen Innes News at its sole discretion. Each entry will be judged based upon creative merit, visual impact and how well the entry represents the Glen Innes Highlands region.
  • Wherever possible and practicable, Glen Innes News will present the entries to the judge/s in such a way that the name of the entrant is anonymised.

Prize Winner Notification:

  • Glen Innes News will attempt to notify the Winner using the contact details that were provided in the competition entry submission. If the Winner cannot be contacted, Glen Innes News reserves the right to publish and use the photo for the purposes stated elsewhere in these terms.

Prize:

  • The prize is for the winning photo to be published on the front cover of a future edition of Glen Innes News, credited to the Winner along with an acknowledgement that the Winner was the successful entrant in the competition
  • Additional prizes may be offered from time to time. If an additional prize is to be offered, details of the additional prize will be included in promotional material for the competition for the relevant issue of Glen Innes News.
  • Additional prizes may be provided by a third party, and it may be necessary for the Winner to liaise directly with the third party to arrange for collection of the additional prize. The third party may have additional terms and conditions that relate to the claiming of the prize. Glen Innes News may pass on the contact details of the Winner to the third party in order to facilitate the prize being given to the Winner. If a prize has been provided by a third party, you grant the third party to use the image according to the same conditions as those granted to Glen Innes News, outlined earlier in this document.
  • If the Winner cannot be contacted or the Winner fails to claim the prize Glen Innes News may, at its sole discretion withdraw the prize or make the prize available to another Winner by way of a second chance judging of entries.
