Spirit blooms at Anglican Church fete

Huge crowds at the Fete

The grounds of the Glen Innes Anglican Church were alive with colour, laughter and music on Saturday, 25 October, as the annual church fete drew huge crowds from across the district. Families wandered through the rose garden in full bloom, enjoying a cloudy but comfortable day filled with the warmth of community spirit.

Stalls brimmed with treasures — plants, books, toys, handicrafts, and a bustling white elephant section of preloved clothes and bric-a-brac. The air was filled with the tempting aromas of hot chips, steak sandwiches at the Lions Club’s famous barbecue, while the cake and sweets tables overflowed with homemade delights, but quickly consumed by the crowds.

Children’s laughter rang out as they enjoyed face painting, fairy floss, and old-fashioned games on the lawn. Inside the church, visitors and locals admired the stunning floral and quilt displays — true testaments to local creativity and care.

Entertainment from local schools, dance groups, and choirs added sparkle to the day, delighting the crowd and keeping spirits high.

As the fete continued smiles were everywhere — proof that when Glen Innes gathers, something special happens. The Anglican Church fete once again proved to be a joyful celebration of friendship, generosity, and the simple pleasure of community.
