Parking Patrols Underway in Glen Innes CBD

disability parking

Glen Innes Severn Council is advising the local community that Council Rangers will be conducting parking patrols throughout the Glen Innes CBD during April 2025.

The patrols are part of Council’s ongoing efforts to ensure parking spaces in the CBD are used fairly and equitably by all road users.

A key focus of the patrols will be the regulation of Disabled Parking Zones. These designated spaces are essential in providing easier access to services in the CBD for people with limited mobility or senior residents, by reducing the distance they need to travel from their vehicles. Individuals holding a valid mobility parking permit are reminded to ensure their permit is clearly displayed on the dashboard or front window of their vehicle.

Timed parking areas will also be monitored to help maintain turnover of high-demand parking spots, particularly along the main street. This, in turn, aims to improve the overall parking and shopping experience for both visitors and residents, while also supporting local businesses.

Since November 2024, Council Rangers have been issuing caution notices (warnings) to drivers. However, from April 2025, Council Officers may begin issuing Penalty Infringement Notices (on-the-spot fines) at their discretion to vehicles that fail to comply with signed parking conditions within the CBD.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to review local parking signage and ensure their vehicles are parked in accordance with regulations.
