Red Range Hall was literally bursting at the seams with a terrific crowd of locals and visitors gathered for an 8am breakfast, the first celebration of Australia Day for 2026 in the Glen Innes Severn Local Government Area.

3967The local Red Range Hall Committee had set up an impressive display of milk cans and cream separators as well as  some examples of the first teat cups as a nod to the importance of the dairying industry to Red Ranges early history.  However, it was the alluring smell of the BBQ that drew the locals indoors.  Rangers Valley had generously supplied quality beef for breakfast supplemented by sausages and eggs and a cup of tea. The steak was magnificent and expertly cooked. The breakfasters were most appreciative.

Mayor Margot Davis welcomed all and gave a short history of the Hall originally built in 1902. She introduced the 2026 Australia Day Ambassador Dr Clio Cresswell who gave a short address on her favourite study, Mathematics and Sex.

Celebrations continue at the Glen Innes and District Services Club with a morning tea (from 10.30am) and Official Ceremonies commencing at 11.30am.
