Weekly Golf Wrap Week Hope everyone is enjoying the change in the club with the cards and payment now being done in the Pro Shop! Ladies Golf The Wednesday round of the NSW Women’s medal was played. The NSW Women’s
Medal is a competition conducted over six (6) stroke play rounds at club level and held between January and September. The winner of the Medal at club level is the player returning the lowest net aggregate of three (3) scores at the end of the six rounds. Upon completion of all six Medal Rounds winners are eligible to compete at district or regional level. Winner of the NSW medal first round was Julie Dunn’s great round of 65 on Saturday. The club monthly medal winner on Thursday was Sue Rees with a score of 71 from Shirley Bruce with a 73. Lindy Newsome collected the nearest the pin on the 17th.
Wednesday Mens 31 men played the Wednesday stableford with the winner Graham Price with 38 points on a count back from Dean Gillett also with 38 points. Nearest the pins were Terry Watters on the 12th, the Pro Pin, Duncan Hutchison the 4th , Dave Mossman the 7th and Andrew McGovern on the 14th.
Veterans Golf Thursday saw 13 golfers travel to Walcha for the second round of the New England Veterans Pennants. Best performing Glen golfer was Julie Dunn with 39 points closely followed by Al Collins with and Duncan Hutchison with 37 and Phil Evans with 36. Graham Price picked up a nearest the pin. Walcha set a new record for pennants on their home course with 295 points! After the first two rounds Glen Innes sits equal first with Uralla. Next round of pennants will be held at Guyra on Tuesday 17 February, so hopefully we will have another good role up to consolidate the lead! With a large contingent of vets at Walcha there were still 15 players who played the Thursday Stableford at home. Winner was Rod Kiehne who collected the win on mickey mouse points on a countback from Tony Trollope. Rod also collected the nett board handicap. Nearest the pins went to Rod Kiehne on the 7th and Ed Cheshire on the 12th, In a good day for Rod he also won the Super 6 winner was Rod Kiehne.
Friday 9 Hole Competition After about 18 weeks the chipping comp finally went off! Standing at $850 Jake Willis chipped in, too much delight of his playing partners, well done Jake. Winner for the day, out of a field of 32 the biggest to date, was Aaron Watson with 21 points on a countback to Braden Miller.
Saturday Golf A field of 28 players competed for the monthly medal stroke event on Saturday. Following being pipped on a count back for the win on Wednesday, Dean Gillett continued his good form to take out the win. With a score of 67 it was too good from the next player Andrew McGovern who had a solid score of 69. The ladies played a nett event with Rose Price blitzing the field with a 65, the best score for the day out of the combined fields. Next was the ever-reliable Kim Hutton with a 71.
In a great day for the ladies Bernie Miller picked up the Pro Pin on the 7th and Rose Price was nearest the pin on the 14th and 17th reflecting her good round, Dawso picked up the 4 th and Danny Lightfoot the 12th.
Cec Judge Jug Sunday saw the playing of the 2026 Cec Judge Jug 4BBB par event. A great field of 110 players challenged themselves on our drying out course. In the end, it was the pairing of Sam Evans and Nick Grob who came in with an impressive +11, one ahead of Steve Zahn and Billy Miller. Max Dickson and Mal Baker rounded out the top 3 with a +9 on a countback from Phil Evans and Scott Wilson. (courtesy of Facebook)
Also, special congratulations to Club Captain Phil Evans who snared a hole in one on the Par 3 17th, which was also the Pro Pin as well! Well done Phil. Dave Martel from Inverell picked up the nearest the pin on the 7th , the 4th went to Paul Johnson from Bundarra, 12th to Sean Wilson and the 14th Nick Lehman.
