New Playground Opens

Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan was on-hand to unveil the new, $1.2 million play space at Glen Innes’ Anzac Park at its official opening on Saturday, 7 February.play2

$500,000 was secured from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund Round 5 which kick-started the project.

Another $600,000 was contributed by the Federal Government and another $100,000 by the Glen Innes Severn Council.20260207 113334

The new play area includes inclusive, imaginative, sensory, active, adventure and nature-based equipment.

Mr Moylan said it was fantastic to see the project completed and opened for the public to enjoy.

“The new playground at Anzac Park is a huge addition to the region’s recreational infrastructure and provides a safe space for families to come together and enjoy being outdoors,” he said.

play3 “It is fantastic to see all three levels of government working together to create something the whole community can be proud of. It is a space that incredibly important to our communities and it supports wellbeing, social connections and an active lifestyle.

“The park will not only benefit from locals using it, but it will benefit with visitors and travellers hopefully stopping in Glen Innes

 and spending money locally.

“It is a major addition to Glen Innes’ regional infrastructure, and I hope people of all ages will enjoy it for years to come.”

20260207 113944Mayor Margot Davis said the opening of the new Anzac Park playground marks an important milestone for the region. “This Nature Play Park is a fantastic investment in the health, happiness and creativity of our local children,” she said.

Special thanks are made to the Youth Booth, New England Club, Grey Street Grocers, council staff  and mums and dads, grandparents and residents and visitors and especially kids who all gathered to make this opening a special event for the whole Glen Innes community.
