The past 12 months have been a significant and demanding year for our volunteers within Glen Innes Severn RFS, both locally and further afield.
Throughout our 15 brigades within Glen Innes Severn, our members have responded to grass fires, bushfires, structure fires and motor vehicle accidents, while also carrying out hazard reduction activities aimed at protecting homes, farms and critical infrastructure.
Behind every callout are hours of training, equipment maintenance, and preparation to ensure crews are ready when needed.

In addition to supporting our own community, Glen Innes volunteers have also stepped forward to assist others during major fire events interstate and overseas. Over the past year, members have deployed to Canada as part of international firefighting efforts, as well as to Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia to assist with large-scale bushfire operations. These deployments highlight both the capability of our local brigade and the willingness of volunteers to leave work and family commitments to help communities in need.
While the large deployments often draw attention, much of the brigade’s work happens quietly and consistently at home — attending local incidents, conducting hazard reductions, engaging with landholders, and supporting community events.
It is this steady, ongoing presence that helps keep Glen Innes and surrounding areas prepared for fire season.
