East Avenue Medical Centre is entering an exciting new chapter as the practice continues to grow and evolve to better serve the Glen Innes community and surrounding regions.
The medical centre has a proud and longstanding history deeply rooted in Glen Innes. Established in 1969 by Dr D. Klein, the practice marked the beginning of the area’s first general practice and has remained an important part of the local community for more than five decades.
Today, Principal Doctor Dr Phill Correy and Dr E.K. Wong at East Avenue Medical Centre are honoured to continue this proud legacy of care. Dr Quinn, Dr Brownlie, Dr White, and Dr Heisinger remain valued and integral members of the practice, continuing to uphold the trusted values of compassion, professionalism, and quality patient care.
Under the new leadership at East Avenue Medical Centre, several new initiatives and improvements are already underway to better support the healthcare needs of the community. The expectation moving forward is to provide enhanced medical services to the Glen Innes community through greater accessibility, improved patient care, and expanded healthcare support.
The practice is focused on improving access to healthcare services by bringing additional overseas-trained doctors to the region, helping to address increasing community demand and aiming to ensure every patient has access to a regular doctor. Three new fulltime doctors will be here by the end of 2026. This expansion is expected to strengthen continuity of care and reduce waiting times for appointments.
East Avenue Medical Centre has also introduced new technology and systems to improve efficiency and convenience for patients, including the implementation of an online booking system and increased social media communication to help keep the community informed and connected.
The team is also pleased to welcome a new Registered Nurse to the practice, with plans for expanded facilities and additional healthcare services in the future. These improvements are designed to create a more efficient, patient-focused medical centre capable of delivering broader and more comprehensive healthcare services to the community.
