A relatively strong start to the new year in our first Prime Lamb and Sheep sale.
1,376 head yarded at the Glen Innes saleyards with a large majority being new season sucker lambs. The usual major meat processor’s buyers attended with little re-stocker competition. Heavy and fat cross-bred suckers fetched between $205-$227, Not far behind was the medium weight, well conditioned suckers from $180-$204. The forward store conditioned suckers between the $120-$175 mark and the medium to light store suckers from $55-$110. Good conditioned Dorper suckers made up to $190.
Heavy, prime conditioned, last seasoned XB lambs Fetched $180-$250. The medium, well conditioned last season lambs from $120-$170. Store and forward store XB lambs ranged from $65-$90. Heavy Dorper lambs between $164-$248. The medium weight Dorpers from $100-$160. Store conditioned merino lambs fetched from $25-$45. The Heavier, better conditioned lambs up to $165. XB hoggets with good condition ranged from $88-$120. Merino and first cross hoggets from $80-$100.
Heavy well conditioned XB ewes topped out at $140 with the medium weighted Ewes from $85- $125. Lighter conditioned and weighted XB Ewes between $62-$80. Light weight but good conditioned Merino Ewes made $62-$90 and the heavier Merino Ewes from $90-$120. Light Dorper sheep ranged from $10-$75 and medium Dorper sheep from $75-$90. Well conditioned Merino wethers made between $100-$120 and the XB wethers made $115.
Dorper rams fetched between $2-$10 and XB heavy Rams from $20-$100.
