Glen Innes Severn Council’s Life Choices Support Services (LC-SS) is relocating its popular “Gentle Stretches from a Chair” program to the Glen Innes Services Club following strong community interest and growing attendance numbers.
The classes, delivered by Yoga with Bron, offer gentle, chair-based stretching and movement specifically designed to support the physical wellbeing and social connection of aged care participants. The new venue will allow up to 30 people per session and provides a more spacious and accessible environment for the growing group.
Acting Mayor Carol Sparks said the Council is encouraged by the strong response to the program and that the venue change marks a positive step forward.
“Life Choices plays an important role in offering opportunities that support wellbeing and social connection for aged care participants,” Cr Sparks said.
“With this service moving to a larger space, Life Choices can welcome more participants each week, while the gentle, chair-based classes continue to provide the valued support our community appreciates.”
The new sessions begin Monday 28 July 2025 and will be held weekly (excluding public holidays) at 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM. Costs are $7 for those with a valid My Aged Care (MAC) referral and $18 for privately funded participants. New attendees are eligible for one complimentary session, and private participants may be approved by LC-SS.
Each session includes time to socialise over tea and coffee, helping to foster friendships and strengthen community ties. Participants must hold a current MAC referral for Social Support Group services.
All safety protocols remain in place, including adequate spacing, compliance with aged care quality standards, and adherence to work health and safety requirements.
