🌙✨ Shimmy in the Glen – Dance, Create, Evolve 2025 ✨🌙
On Saturday 13th, the Glen Innes Services Club will be transformed into a desert dream — a place where silk and shadow entwine, and the heartbeat of the drum calls you to journey eastward. Doors open at 5.30pm, with performances beginning from 6.00pm and the grand showtime at 6.30pm.
Once each year, Glen Innes is gifted a jewel of a night: a shimmering spectacle where Australia’s finest bellydancers gather beneath our own lights. From the elegance of Egyptian classics to the fire of folkloric traditions, the pulse of sha’abi, and the mystery of fusion, every step carries the scent of spice markets and the rhythm of ancient sands.
Veils unfurl like desert winds… skirts whirl in a thousand colours… coin-belts scatter silver laughter in the dark. Zills chatter, drums thunder, and suddenly you are no longer in Glen Innes, but wandering across lands of myth and music, where every dance tells a story older than time.
This vision was first dreamed four years ago by Helen Tucker, known on stage as Neleh, who, with her devoted troupe has woven a festival of movement and magic for our town. Now in its fourth year, Dance, Create, Evolve continues to grow into a night of pure enchantment.
