Six years ago Kristina Sanne, Director and Lead Teacher at Jacaranda Highland Dancers in Grafton, was approached by a few persuasive Glen Innes families keen to have highland dancing classes made available in Glen Innes for their children. Despite some initial misgivings about the logistics of expanding her dance studio, and the commute up the Gwydir, Kristina said yes. She now teaches at the Masonic Lodge Hall on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings, once a fortnight. Glen Innes Masonic Lodge Celebrates 150 Years

The Glen Innes Masonic Lodge 44 celebrated its sesquicentennial 150th anniversary this month. In 1874 a group of Freemasons who were living in Glen Innes held a meeting to consider the advisability of establishing a Freemasons lodge in town. They petitioned the district Grand Lodge of England to obtain a warrant. The petition was granted by the district Grand Master A.T. Holroyd on 14th October 1874. Holroyd authorised the dispensation that allowed the masons to meet as a lodge pending the receipt of the warrant.
