New Cookbook from the Monday Morning Cooking Club Members of the Glen Innes Gourmet Fiesta Committee were delighted to recently catch up with an old friend while she was visiting town, Merelyn Chalmers from the Monday Morning Cooking Club. The connection between the cooking group and Glen Innes dates back to 2018, when the Gourmet Fiesta Committee invited the Monday Club cooks to appear as Celebrity Chefs at the Glen Innes Show. Merelyn remembers the visit fondly. “We were all blown away by the welcome in the community and how much we had in common in the way we cooked,…

Glen Innes Severn Council has implemented Level 2 water restrictions for Glen Innes after recent inspections of Beardy Weir, which supplies the town’s water. The restrictions have been implemented following inspections that confirmed water levels reached the trigger for Level 2 restrictions under Council’s Drought Management Plan. General Manager Bernard Smith said the move to Level 2 restrictions was an adopted step under the plan and part of Council’s normal approach to managing the town’s water supply. “These trigger points are in place so decisions are made early and consistently,” Mr Smith said. “They help Council manage water use before…
History of Torrington All Saints Anglican Church “Ä symbol of endurance and Community Spirit” As far back as 1948 preparations were being made for the construction of this Church. Then known as The Church of England, (changed to Anglican Church in 1981) services were being held in homes. Much fund raising was done with dances, plays, fancy dress competitions & sports days where home made cakes & pies were on sale. Quite a few locals had musical instruments so music could be heard around most events. A young man by the name of George Trewhella (called Ginger George because of…

FERAL PIGS RUN RIOT WHILE THE GOVERNMENT RUNS ANOTHER REVIEW I almost have to laugh. The Minns Labor Government has announced……wait for it…….a “review” into feral pigs. Because obviously what millions of 100-kilo breeding machines tearing up regional NSW really fear is a discussion paper in Macquarie Street. Last week I drove from Armidale to Moree at night, about 250 kilometres of quality agricultural country. Between Bundarra and Bingara alone I counted 21 deer. Across the full trip? Nine foxes and at least 50 pigs. Between Bingara and Gravesend the pigs were so thick in places they were impossible to…
