Update from Glen Innes Art Gallery Inc

Welcome to our first column for the Glen Innes Art Gallery Inc.

The GIAG has been operating since the opening of the Glen Innes Severn Learning Centre in the early 2000s. We average a new exhibition once a month and most are open to all artists of any medium except for specialised exhibitions.

We also hold workshops during the year. Our next one is on December 7th, with Jo-Ann Barr’s Jamhats – there are only a couple of spots left, so please book in this week with a $50 deposit.

At the moment, we have our Christmas exhibition on until Friday 22nd November. This is a fantastic opportunity to purchase a range of gifts for Christmas for all budgets. Some are Christmas themed, others are exceptional artworks ready for Christmas wrapping!

Our next exhibition, which will be opened on 30th November at the conclusion of the Glen Innes Library’s 70th birthday party, is the Glen Innes High School students. This will encompass the HSC projects and other chosen works from years 9 – 11. The Gala will begin at 3pm, so pop in and see this – such imagination and creativity!

We have next year’s calendar of exhibitions printed ready for you to pick up, or have a look on our Facebook page: Glen Innes Art Gallery Inc.

Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am – 4pm and Saturdays 10am – 1pm. Unfortunately, sometimes we are shut if volunteers are unavailable, so if you can help please call me on 0412 250431 and I will pass your details on to our volunteer co-ordinator, Jenny Body. We are always looking for volunteers who can dedicate themselves to a three-hour shift, once a week, fortnight or even month.

Come see us and have a look around.
