High Country Book and Writers Clubs

If you’re at all interested in reading or writing, you may be interested in the High Country Book Club, or the High Country Writer’s Club which currently run out of the Maker’s Shed in Deepwater.

They both operate on the third Saturday of the month.  The Book Club goes from 10-12 and each month a different designated book is discussed and reviewed.  The Writer’s Group goes from 1-3 and a lively discussion ensues about people’s writing, with lashings of encouragement.  Some people attend both groups and feel they complement each other.

People come from all around the area and beyond to bounce ideas and garner support for themselves and offer support to others.  What they all have in common is an intense interest in books and writing.  The groups are full of people from a wide range of backgrounds and with varying experience, so discussions are lively.  Both groups are supported by experienced people/writers in Michael Burge and Virginia Eddy.  Apparently, homework is set in each group, and attendees are encouraged to follow through and present the results of this in an ongoing pursuit of individual excellence.
