The Glen Innes Highlands Lioness Lions Club has awarded its first-ever Post-Secondary Education Scholarship, valued at over $2,000, to Lottie Marr-Spillman. Lottie, who will be undertaking university studies in Education at Charles Sturt University’s Port Macquarie campus, was selected as the inaugural recipient of the scholarship.

The club has long been dedicated to supporting young people in the local community. In 2023, members were able to assist a student transitioning to university, which became the catalyst for establishing the scholarship fund as an ongoing annual project.

Both Glen Innes High School and Emmaville Central School were consulted and included in the project, with both schools expressing enthusiasm for the initiative. With this support, the club proceeded with fundraising efforts and successfully secured a grant from White Rock Wind Farm to help establish the scholarship.

The Glen Innes Highlands Lioness Lions Club expressed its gratitude for the overwhelming support and encouragement received from the local community. Their efforts in fundraising and grant applications have been instrumental in making the scholarship a reality.

Looking ahead, the club is eager to continue supporting students in their post-secondary education journeys. The success of this initiative relies on continued fundraising efforts and ongoing community support.

For those interested in contributing or learning more about the scholarship program, the Glen Innes Highlands Lioness Lions Club welcomes community involvement and support to help future students achieve their educational goals.
