Glen Innes Severn Council has launched the Colours of the Highlands initiative, a campaign celebrating the natural beauty, cultural richness and strong sense of community in the Glen Innes Highlands during autumn. Running from 1 March to 31 May, the initiative will bring together a variety of events, activities and experiences that highlight the region’s seasonal charm.

Building on the area’s reputation for stunning autumn colours, the campaign aims to enhance community engagement and promote the Glen Innes Highlands as a premier autumn destination. By supporting both existing and new events, Council hopes to showcase the region’s landscapes while fostering local pride and tourism.

Council is encouraging local businesses, community groups, artists and event organisers to participate in the initiative. Opportunities include hosting events, decorating shopfronts, offering seasonal promotions, or creating experiences that reflect the spirit of autumn in the Highlands.

Glen Innes Severn Council Mayor Margot Davis highlighted the significance of the initiative, stating, “Colours of the Highlands is a chance for the entire community to come together and showcase what makes Glen Innes a spectacular place to visit and live.

“This is not just about celebrating autumn—it’s about celebrating us. We’re inviting local businesses, artists, schools, and community groups to be part of something special, whether through hosting events, running workshops, or simply dressing up our town in autumn colours,” Cr Davis said.

With crisp air, golden leaves and picturesque scenery, autumn provides an ideal setting for both locals and visitors to experience the beauty of the Highlands. Colours of the Highlands will complement the region’s existing tourism offerings while creating new opportunities for community-driven events and activities.
