A very big week of golf to report on!
Ladies Competition
Glen Innes Ladies ran their annual two day golf competition, sponsored by White Rock Wind Farm. Players from Lismore, Toowoomba, Maclean, Grafton, Goondiwindi, Tamworth and players from the majority of the New England Clubs played over Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tuesday saw a 4 BBB played. Overall winners from the 62 teams were the girls from Lismore, Amanda Finch and Jan Hutton and runners up were Christine Powell and Christine Picton from Maclean. Best performing locals were Lindy Newsome and past resident Vanessa Daley who were third overall.

Wednesday saw 80 ladies play a Stroke event for A and B grade whilst 32 C Grade players played a Stableford. A Grade winner of the stroke event was Margaret Spokes from Tenterfield whilst best performing Glen Innes ladies were Shirley Bruce in 5th and Pru Newby in 7th. Winner of B Grade was Shirley Lockwood whilst Rose Price came in 3rd.
In the C Grade the Stableford winner was Marion Smith with a 37 whilst next best locals were Jan Hope in 6th and Lindy Newsome in 12th.

A big thank you to sponsors White Rock Wind Farm, Golf Club staff and all the volunteers that made for a great two days of golf. A special thanks to the green keeping staff Zac and Lucas who had the course looking fantastic with many favourable comments about the course from our visitors.
Veterans Golf
Thursday saw the annual Veterans Open played with a great field of 88 men and 15 ladies playing a Stableford. Winner of the Ladies was club stalwart Leta Kempton with 40 points from Shirley Lockwood with 37 on a countback from Joan Hutton.
In the Mens competition Craig Hulls was the A grade winner on a countback from Geoff Phillips with 41 points. In B Grade Peter Zannes from Tenterfield won with 39 points from local Ian Swanston with 38. C Grade winner was Richard Gaha with 42, best score for the day, from Max Burton with a 39.
A highlight of the day was Ian Swanston with a hole in 1 on the 4th which was also the Pro Pin. Other nearest the pin winners were Col Cruickshank from Warialda on the 7th, Amanda Carr from Armidale on the 12th and the 14th and Tom Kilner from Warialda on the 17th.
Players from Goondiwindi, Tenterfield, Warialda, Inverell, Guyra, Bingara, Uralla, Deepwater and Armidale enjoyed the day. A big thank you to the Services Club who were the sponsors for the day and volunteers from the Westpac Rescue Helicopter who provided lunch.
Friday 9 Hole Comp
Another great field of 19 players played the Friday comp on the front 9 with the winner Bernadette Miller with 21 points from Damien Boylan on 19 on a countback from Robert Every also with 19 points.
Mens Club Championship
Saturday and Sunday saw rounds 1 and 2 of the Men’s club championship played. At the halfway point joint leaders in A Grade are Ashton McConnell and Gary Hutton. B Grade leader is BJ Hutchison from Michael Goard whilst in C Grade Mal Baker is 4 shots clear of Mick Grob in second.
Sunday Ladies
Only a field of 3 ladies played a stableford with the winner Bernadette Miller with 36, Bernie is definitely whittling down her handicap with another solid performance. 2nd was Kim Hutton also on 36 points
Social Golf
Sunday the 2nd of March 9 Social members played the back nine again due to Club Championships being held.
Winner with a nett 19 was Shane Cooper (beware the wounded warrior) from Col Fletcher nett 21.
Putting to Jake McIntye with 16 putts.
Nearest to the pin on the 16th, 3rd shot, was Craig Hulls and on the 17th Shane Cooper.
Bradmans to Michael Johansen and the T/bird to Jim Wilson.
Lucky draws to Jack Kilner and Shane Cooper.
Due to the Club Championships, 2nd round, we will have to again play the back nine at 8.30 am
