Glen Innes motorists and residents are advised to plan ahead as several temporary road closures will be in place across the town for the 2025 Australian Celtic Festival, taking place from Friday 2 May to Sunday 4 May.
The Glen Innes Severn Council has announced the following road closures to ensure the smooth running of festival events:
-
Friday 2 May:
Grey Street, between Bourke Street and Town Square, will be closed from 9:30am to approximately 1:45pm to accommodate the Festival Opening Ceremony. -
Saturday 3 May:
Grey Street, from Lang Street to Meade Street, will be closed between 8:00am and 11:30am for the street parade and its preparations.
In addition, Watsons Drive will be closed from just south of Meade Street to the end of the road, starting 6:30am Saturday and remaining closed until 5:00pm on Sunday 4 May. This closure supports ongoing festival activities in the area.
Further impacts include:
-
Parking restrictions, with both centre and kerb-side parking in the CBD reserved for traffic management.
-
Full closures of the Grey Street roundabouts at Wentworth, Bourke and Meade Streets during the Saturday parade.
-
Controlled access arrangements for scheduled deliveries to businesses affected by the closures.
Council has thanked the community for its patience and cooperation and encourages anyone with questions to contact its Infrastructure Services team on (02) 6730 2300.
