Ladies Golf
The Glen Ladies celebrated their 2-day tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday. The tournament sponsored by White Rock Wind
Farm was a great success. Day 1 kicked off with a 4BBB with 118 players taking part. Winning combination was the Maclean team of Debbie Key and Kaye Grayson with 47 points in second place was the Walcha team of Sue Partridge and Pauline Carter with 45 points. Coming in third was the Glen team of Heather Thomas and Rose Price with 44 points. Third was a close call with 5 teams finishing with 44 points. Shirley Bruce and Pru Newby, and Shirley Lockwood and Annette Berrell from Glen finished with 44 points, but it was the Thomas/Price team that picked up the third place on a count back.

Day 2 saw Division 1  2 play a nett event whilst Division 3 played a stableford. In Division 1 Tenterfield golfer Margaret Spokes proved to strong with a 69 from Lyn Neaves of Dorrigo with a 70 on a countback from Elly Petrie. Best Glen golfer was Pru Newby with a 71, coming in 3rd runner up. In Division 2 Glen golfer Shirley Lockwood was too strong with an excellent 65 with Pip Warwick of Armidale second with 68. Ex Glen Innes resident, and now Chinderah resident, Vanessa Daley picked up 2nd runner up.

In Division 3 Armidale golfer Annabelle Barnier won the stableford event with a great 42 points. Glen Innes golfers Mary Davey and Kay Correy were runners up with a 40 and 39 respectively. The overall scratch winner was Elly Petrie of Tenterfield whilst Toowoomba golfer Nikki Furlong was runner up. Bron Campbell picked up the Pro Pin on Wednesday.

Veterans Golf Thursday saw the 1st round of the New England Medal played at the Glen Innes Open. A field of 61 players played the medley stableford with players from Goondiwindi, Warialda, Inverell and Tenterfield competing. Glen Innes players dominated the 3 grades with Rod Kiehne winning Division 1 with 35 points on a countback from Brian Paine and Tenterfield golfer John Tolhurst.
In Division 2 Shirley Bruce was the winner with an excellent 39 points with Neil
Zoldos second with 35, Deepwater golfer Steve Johnston was third. In Division 3 Max Burton was the winner with 38 and Joan Hutton second with 37 making it a clean sweep for the Glen golfers. Overall round 1 New England Medal winner was octogenarian Glen Innes golfer Roy Matthews with 41 points. Congratulations Roy you are an inspiration to us all!

This Thursday is round 4 of the New England Pennants so we will be looking for a good roll up to consolidate our second position on the ladder.

Friday 9 Hole Competition Another good field of 17 played the back 9 in the Friday comp. Early player Bernie Miller must have been watching the leader board all day thinking she might have the win with a great score of 20 but it was the fast-finishing Mick Key who won the day with 21 points.

Glen Innes Services 2 Day Golf Classic 47 teams, comprising 94 players took part over the 2 days. Overall winners were Buster Crowhurst and Scott Wilson with the team of Terry Watters and Bruce Coppock second. Some very solid golf from these 2 teams with Buster and Scott winning on Saturday from Terry and Bruce and the order reversed on Sunday with Terry and Bruce winning. Buster and Scott also won the golf trip to Kooralbyn Valley Golf Club.
