A man has died following a single-vehicle crash in the state’s New England region this morning. About 9.20am (Monday 18 August 2025), emergency services were called to Shannon Vale Road, Bald Nob – about 26km east of Glen Innes – following reports a vehicle had crashed. The male driver of the vehicle was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified. Officers attached to New England Police District established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the incident. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
A man has died in a two-vehicle crash on the Gwydir Highway near Glen Innes.. About 12.30pm today (Saturday 9 August 2025), emergency services were called to the Gwydir Highway, Swan Vale, about 30km west of Glen Innes, following reports of a crash. Officers attached to New England Police District attended and found a Ford Ranger utility collided head-on with a B-double combination semi-trailer. A 20-year-old man has been charged in relation to an alleged attempted armed robbery at a service station in Glen Innes. At approximately 7.50am on Thursday 24 July, a man armed with a knife entered a service station on Church Street and allegedly demanded cash from the attendant. Police were told the attendant refused the demand and locked the staff area, prompting the man to leave the premises on foot without obtaining any money. An investigation is continuing into the death of a child at a home in Glen Innes on the weekend. About 6.40am (Sunday 30 March 2025), emergency services were called to a home on Hunter Street, Glen Innes, after an 11-month-old boy was found unresponsive. NSW Ambulance paramedics took the child to Glen Innes Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. While not being treated as suspicious, an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death is now being conducted by detectives attached to New England Police District. A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.

In November 2024, officers attached to New England Police District commenced an investigation following reports of multiple break and enter offences in Bingara, Warialda and Glen Innes areas. Initial inquiries established a number of solar panels, motor controllers and metal products were stolen from several locations since Tuesday 19 November 2024.
