Santa Claus is coming to town this weekend, bringing festive joy and plenty of lollies for the young and young at heart in Glen Innes. The annual Santa’s Lolly Run, a community initiative led by local firefighters, will take place on Friday and Saturday evenings, spreading Christmas cheer through the streets of the town.
Friday Night Schedule
On Friday evening, Santa and his helpers will begin their journey at 5:00 pm from the northern end of Grey Street. They will make their way through most of the eastern side of town, spreading holiday spirit and handing out treats along the way.
Saturday Night Schedule
The festive fun continues on Saturday at 4:00 pm, when Santa’s “sleigh”—a fire truck decked out for the season—will start from the northern end of West Avenue. From there, the team will travel through the western streets of Glen Innes.
Plan Ahead for Your Spot
While the firefighters will cover many streets, they won’t be able to visit every single one. Families living on smaller or less accessible streets are encouraged to head to the nearest intersection or a mapped location to ensure they can join the fun. Maps of the planned routes are available for download at the bottom of this article.
A Growing Tradition
The Lolly Run is part of a growing tradition among fire and rescue stations across the state, aimed at fostering community spirit during the festive season. Glen Innes Fire Station embraced the idea last year, with generous support from Woolworths, which donated the lollies. They hope to make the Lolly Run an ongoing annual tradition.
