Commuters across the Northern Tablelands are being invited to share their views on proposed changes to bus routes and timetables set to take effect in mid-2026.
The proposed adjustments, developed by NSW TrainLink, include the introduction of new services and improvements to existing routes and schedules.
One of the new additions is a bus service between Armidale and Port Macquarie, operating on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. This service would enable passengers to connect with rail services accessing destinations such as Coffs Harbour, Grafton, the Northern Rivers, the Gold Coast, and Brisbane.
In Armidale, additional stops are planned in the CBD for services between Armidale and Tenterfield, as well as Armidale and Inverell.
A new service linking Tamworth to Dubbo and back is also proposed for Wednesdays, alongside a new route from Tamworth to Muswellbrook and return. The latter would provide a day-return connection to and from Newcastle.
Importantly, all current services would remain unchanged under the proposed changes.
Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan emphasised the potential benefits of the proposed additions, which aim to enhance travel options for residents.
“The proposed new services are an extension of the public transport already in place in the Northern Tablelands,” Mr Moylan said.
“It is great to see a regular connection to the coast put forward without taking away from current services. I encourage the community to provide feedback on the proposed routes via the NSW Government’s online platform.”
Residents are encouraged to review the proposal and share their input via the NSW Government’s consultation platform at haveyoursay.nsw.gov.au/trainlink-coach-network-review.
