RSPCA NSW is set to host the Glen Innes Healthy Pet Day on Wednesday, 5 March 2025, providing vital veterinary services to eligible residents within the Glen Innes Severn Council area. The event will take place from 9:00 AM, with bookings essential to ensure access to services.
The initiative aims to support pet owners by offering a range of free and subsidised veterinary services, including vaccinations, health checks, microchipping, and cat desexing. In addition to these, attendees will receive free pet care information, behaviour advice, and parasite prevention giveaways to help ensure the ongoing wellbeing of their animals. Owners of dogs will also have access to subsidised desexing services, further promoting responsible pet ownership in the community.
Mayor Margot Davis underscored the significance of the event, noting that it provides an invaluable opportunity for residents to access affordable pet care. “Events like these are crucial for supporting pet owners who may not have the financial means to afford veterinary services.” Cr Davis said.
The event is specifically designed for pensioners, healthcare card holders, and JobSeeker recipients who reside within the Glen Innes Severn Council area. Proof of eligibility, including residency and concession status, will be required upon registration. Attendees must also be at least 18 years old to participate in the program.
Priority for services will be given to certain breeds, and eligible households may enrol up to three animals in the program. Breeders are not eligible for these services, and litters will only be accepted under specific circumstances to ensure fairness and accessibility for individual pet owners.
The event’s exact location will be provided at the time of booking. To ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees, all dogs must be on leads, and cats must be secured in carriers upon arrival. Pet owners are encouraged to follow these guidelines to facilitate a smooth and stress-free experience for both animals and veterinary staff.
The Healthy Pet Day is made possible through the collaborative efforts of Glen Innes Veterinary Hospital, Vets Beyond Borders, the Animal Rescue Cooperative (ARC), and Orchard Hills Veterinary Hospital. These organisations have come together to provide their expertise and resources in support of pet welfare in the region.
By making essential pet care services more accessible, the event aims to enhance the overall health and wellbeing of animals while fostering responsible pet ownership. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to ensure their pets receive necessary medical attention and preventive care.
