A Local Update From Brendan Moylan MP

Community forums

I met with leaders from the Glen Innes community last week to discuss healthcare and community safety. It was great to catch-up and chat about those important topics.

Glen Innes Show

The Glen Innes Show was a fantastic success last month. Held over three days, people came from all over the area to attend.

It was excellent to wander around and talk with attendees as well as see everything on offer.

Congratulations to the Glen Innes Show Society for holding such a wonderful event, it truly is the ‘Royal of the North’.

Proposal to split the Hunter New England Health District

Members of the public will be able to have their say on the Health Services Amendment (Splitting of the Hunter New England Health District) Bill 2025.

The proposed Bill aims to dissolve the current Hunter New England Local Health District to establish two new districts – Hunter Local Health District and the New England Northwest Local Health District has been referred to the Legislative Assembly Committee on Community Services which means the wider Hunter and New England communities will be able to have their say on the proposed changes and have input into the future of healthcare in the region.

Visit www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/committees/inquiries to view the Bill and make your submission.

Recognising Glen Innes in Parliament

In the first sittings of Parliament for the year, I was able to recognise Glen Innes through Community Recognition Statements.

I spoke about the community for banding together to clean up the town following the large storm in January. I made particular mention of Richard Gallagher and Bianca Hill on being the driving force as well as Lindsay Hill, Imogen Armstrong, Oliver Armstrong, Suzi Lake, Trey Griffiths, Braedon Griffiths, Keinan Griffiths, Jayden Nugent, Cammo Wood, Anne Vosper and the Glen Innes mayor, Margot Davis, for being part of the clean-up.

I also recognised the Cave family of Glen Innes for celebrating 50 years of continuous ownership of Tyrepower. Allan and Gail Cave began the business in 1975. Their son Matt and his wife Jacqui took over in 2002 and still operate the business today.

I also recognised the Deepwater Jockey Club for 160 years of racing. Well done to everyone involved in keeping this tradition going.
