No golf on Wednesday last week due to the wet weather and the course being closed.
Veterans Golf
A good field of 25 players competed for the Monthly Medal which is a stroke event. Winner was Glen Fairclough with a 72 from Robert Bruce with a 74. Nearest the pins were Glen Fairclough on the 4th and the Pro Pin on the 12th went to Peter Tough. Putting went to Farley Sherrott with 28 putts.
Thursday is round 4 of the New England Veterans Pennants with a strong field of 95 players from Glen Innes, Guyra, Armidale, Uralla and Walcha playing.
Friday 9 Hole Comp
Bernadette Miller continued her great form with an excellent 25 points on the front nine on Friday, in second was Jo Fairclough with 20 points. Bernie is probably the keenest golfer in the club at the moment and is a graduate from the lady’s sip and hit day!
Saturday Golf
A great field of 54 players played a medley Stableford on Saturday. Winner was Peter Walls with 39 points from Ashton McConnell with 38. The Pro Pin winner was Terry Watters on the 17th, other winners for nearest the pins were Tim Penn the 4th, Matty McHarg the 7th, Kim Hutton the 12th and Richard Sturtridge the 14th.
Sunday Golf
11 ladies played a Stableford with the winner Bernie Miller with 38 points well clear of second who was Shirley Lockwood with 33 points, on a count back from Kim Hutton.
Another good field of 45 players went round on Sunday for a men’s Stableford. Winner was Michael Grob with 38 points. Second was Iain Smith with 37 points on a count back from Scott Slade and Bobby Gallagher also finishing on 37 points.
Nearest the pins were Mick Grob on the 4th, the Pro Pin on the 7th went to Robert Every, Ben Cunningham the 12th, Charlie Kiehne the 14th and Brian Paine the 17th.
Coming Up
This Wednesday 19th March the Ladies will be playing their annual Foursomes Championship, tee off will be 9.00am. The Ladies Championship has also been deferred to May due to last weeks wet weather.
A reminder for all the new lady golfers that another free clinic will be held on Saturday 22nd at 1.00pm by PGA pro Kieran McMahon.
After consultation with Golf Australia and the Australian PGA rounds 3 and 4 of the Men’s Championships have been deferred to Saturday 6th September and Sunday the 7th September. The Club must allow adequate time of between 3 and 6 months to allow players to have an opportunity to compete.
