The Minerama Fossicking Gem & Jewellery Show in Glen Innes is set to go ahead as planned this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, despite forecasts of heavy rain linked to Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Organisers have made necessary adjustments to ensure the safety and comfort of attendees, with some changes to the event layout and trader attendance.
While a number of traders directly impacted by the cyclone have had to cancel, 42 indoor and 34 outdoor traders remain confirmed to participate. Visitors can expect an exciting array of gems, jewellery, and fossicking-related activities, albeit with some modifications due to the weather conditions.
Event Adjustments:
- First Aid: Relocated indoors to the south-eastern side of the Old Pavilion (inside traders area), marked with a First Aid sign.
- Workshops & Demonstrations: Moved inside the New Pavilion kitchen.
- Jurassic Jack: Now located indoors at the Poultry Pavilion next to the New Pavilion.
- Glen Innes Gem Club: Relocated to the northern end of the Old Pavilion, outside.
- Base Zero Climbing Wall: Attendance is yet to be confirmed.
- Fossicking Field Trips: Enquiries can be directed to the Glen Innes Mineral & Gem Club via email at gigemclub@gmail.com.
