Following their school swimming carnival, twelve students from St Joseph’s Primary School in Glen Innes travelled to Gunnedah on 28 February to represent their school in the Diocesan Swimming Carnival.
The students had an exceptional day of competition, with several securing places at the upcoming Polding Championships. The following students have progressed:
Kash McPhillips – Senior Boys 50m Backstroke
Phoebe Newberry – Senior Girls 4 x 50m Relay
Felicity Adams – Senior Girls 4 x 50m Relay
Maggie Doust – 11 Years Girls 50m Freestyle; Senior Girls 4 x 50m Relay; 11 Years Girls 50m Breaststroke
Zara Correy – 11 Years Girls 50m Freestyle; Senior Girls 4 x 50m Relay; 11 Years Girls 50m Breaststroke; 11 Years Girls 50m Butterfly; 11 Years Girls 50m Backstroke
These students will compete at the Polding Championships, which will be held on 2 and 3 April 2025. The school community extends its best wishes to them for their upcoming races.
There were also many other strong performances on the day. Lucy Newberry placed fourth in the 8 Years 50m Freestyle, while Zara Correy was named the 11 Years Girls Champion, a fantastic achievement.
