HOT SHOTS FOR JUNIORS: There’s a buzz of excitement every Saturday morning during school terms as young tennis players aged 4 to 15 gather for the Community Play ‘Hot Shot’ Sessions (run by Glen Innes District Tennis Association volunteers). The Tennis ‘Hot Shots’ program is a game-based approach designed by Tennis Australia specially for children to introduce them to the fun of playing tennis and develop basic skills.

Join the Tennis ‘Hot Shots’ Crew at the Glen Innes Tennis Club. The Term 2 sessions will re-commence on Saturday, 10th May at 9.30am. The first introductory session is free, each other session is $5.00 – NSW ‘Active Kids’ Vouchers’ can be used. All new registered participants receive a Hot Shots tennis shirt.

The program is specially designed for children and helps develop coordination, speed, strength and agility. Children play on smaller courts with modified equipment (lighter racquets, lower nets, and tennis balls that don’t bounce too high) to make it easier, and more fun to progress. Each Age Stage provides the right equipment and court size to play tennis at their ability and interest. Kids develop social and problem-solving skills while playing individually and in a team. They also learn how to cope with wins and losses fairly. Most of all, Tennis Hot Shots is heaps of FUN!

WINTER COMPETITION: All local adult tennis players are encouraged to enter the Winter Mixed Doubles Competition starting 10th May (play runs approximately 1:00pm to 3:30 pm). You do not need to be a club member to enter this competition – all players are welcome. Players are assigned to a team and matches are played in rotation against similarly graded players – so whatever your ability or experience level, you will get some great tennis. The competition will run through the school Term 3 (excluding the June Long Weekend). Anyone who would like to join this competition is urged to contact the club now and register your interest.

SOCIAL TENNIS: The club runs social tennis every Tuesday morning from 9am until noon throughout the whole year. And until the comp starts, there will also be social tennis on Saturday afternoons from 2pm. This is a great opportunity to brush up on your skills before the comp starts or just get to know the regular players – everyone is welcome so go along and check out the fantastic facilities at the Glen Innes Courts.
