At 8:45 am, prior to the council meeting, former Councillor Mrs Lara Gresham addressed Council in a Public Forum. Members of the public are allowed to address Councillors for 5 minutes prior to the meeting, following an application to Council. Mrs Gresham spoke against item 7.6 Psychosocial Safety and Wellbeing Framework for Councillors. Regular customers of the AMCAL pharmacy in Glen Innes may not have noticed many changes since the new owners took over last week but there are new services in the wind. Jenni Jackson, Alyce Northey and Mylene Bagasin officially took over last week. All three are familiar faces in the pharmacy, having worked with the Graydons who were the previous owners, and all three are fully qualified pharmacists. 🌧️ Rain couldn’t stop the crowds! Despite the rolling scuds of rain, Glen Innes locals — joined by curious visitors — streamed into the Old Glen Innes Power Station on Saturday. By 9:30am, the building was alive with a fantastic turnout, all eager to marvel at the technology that once powered our town through the 1930s, 40s and 50s. The undisputed stars of the show? Bake Sale Brings in Over $5,000 for Charity!

What a morning! The community came together in spectacular fashion on Sunday, raising an incredible $5,019.90 at the Friendly Faces Helping Hands Bake Sale at The Coffee Incident café. The energy was electric as locals streamed through the doors, enjoying home-baked treats, barista coffees, and a sizzling bacon brioche BBQ — all while supporting a wonderful cause. Organisers say costs were minimal thanks to the generosity of many: Local bakers who donated their finest creations. Reg and Lorraine Miller, who supplied all the milk for coffees. Seventy years ago, in April 1955 after his invention developed from killed polio virus had been tested in one of the largest clinical trials in history, American virologist Jonas Salk’s polio vaccine was officially declared ‘safe, effective and potent’. It was an unprecedented scientific breakthrough in the control of the spread of one of the most dreaded diseases of the 20th century. Polio, or Poliomyelitis, also known as Infantile Paralysis, is a highly infectious viral disease primarily affecting the nervous system, with flu-like symptoms, brain inflammation, and in severe cases, paralysis. Great Global Greyhound Walk 2025

The Great Global Greyhound Walk (GGGW) is an annual dog-walking event that brings together sighthounds and their owners to raise awareness of sighthounds as pets. Beginning as the Great British Greyhound Walk in 2010, it expanded over time to involve other sighthounds and become a global event. In 2024, a total of 13,383 sighthounds walked at 511 events in 42 countries around the world. In addition to the relatively well-known greyhounds, whippets and Italian greyhounds, the sighthounds category also includes lurchers, deerhounds, wolfhounds, salukis, Afghan hounds, borzois and the Spanish galgos podencos, and Ibizan hounds.
