The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) has released Glen Innes Severn Council’s Special Rate Variation (SRV) application. A three-week community consultation period is open from 17 February to 9 March 2026, giving residents, businesses and community stakeholders the opportunity to provide feedback directly to IPART. Submissions can be made through an online survey The Survey takes about 5 minutes to complete. Written submissions can be made through the IPART’s website. New Playground Opens

Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan was on-hand to unveil the new, $1.2 million play space at Glen Innes’ Anzac Park at its official opening on Saturday, 7 February. $500,000 was secured from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund Round 5 which kick-started the project. Another $600,000 was contributed by the Federal Government and another $100,000 by the Glen Innes Severn Council. The new play area includes inclusive, imaginative, sensory, active, adventure and nature-based equipment. Glen Innes Severn Council has formally submitted its Special Rate Variation (SRV) application to the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART), proposing a 48.3 per cent increase to general rates phased over three years. Council acknowledges clearly and unequivocally that the community does not want a rate rise. Glen Innes Severn’s Australia Day celebrations began in true country style with a “breakfast of champions” at Red Range Hall, where the Red Range Hall Committee pulled off a near-miraculous loaves and fishes effort. Locals and visitors alike enjoyed barbecued sausage and egg, steak and onion sandwiches, with generously donated steak from Rangers Valley earning particular appreciation. Red Range Hall was literally bursting at the seams with a terrific crowd of locals and visitors gathered for an 8am breakfast, the first celebration of Australia Day for 2026 in the Glen Innes Severn Local Government Area.
