The Glen Innes Red Cross has officially launched its 24th Annual Christmas Tree Exhibition at the Town Hall, and festive spirit is already filling the room. More than 50 trees are on display this year, each one an original, created by individuals, families, businesses, schools or community groups. The theme “Christmas Around the World” has inspired a wonderful mix of originality and artistry. Red Cross Christmas Tree Display To Delight Again This Year

The Australian Red Cross Christmas tree display is twenty-three years old this year and over all the years has been delighting Glen Innes residents and visitors alike.  I asked Margaret Kiehne, President of the Glen Innes Red Cross branch, where the idea originally came from.  She said it was filched from the Muswellbrook branch, and while their event didn’t make the distance, the Glen Innes iteration has kept going from strength to strength.
