A Glen Innes woman has been reunited with her beloved cat, Magic, nearly three years after he went missing during a house move.
Liz, Magic’s owner, searched for months after he disappeared, posting on social media and asking neighbours, but as time passed, she feared the worst.
Then, earlier this week, Liz received an unexpected phone call from a local veterinary clinic—Magic had been found. A kind-hearted passer-by had spotted the cat and taken him to the vet, where a routine microchip scan revealed his identity and led to the long-awaited reunion.
“It was such a shock,” Liz said. “After all this time, I never thought I’d see him again. I’m so grateful to the people who found him and took him to the vet.”
Magic appears to have been well looked after, is in good health and settling back into home life. His story is a reminder of the importance of microchipping pets and keeping contact details up to date. It is also a great example of why, if you find a lost pet, it is a good idea to take it to a local vet to be scanned for a microchip so it can be reunited with its owners.
“You never know when a bit of magic might happen” said Liz.
