The highly anticipated Minerama, one of the largest gem, jewellery, and fossicking events in New South Wales, is returning to Glen Innes from 7 to 9 March 2025. This year’s event promises an exciting weekend packed with opportunities to explore, learn, and enjoy a range of hands-on activities for all ages.
In 2025, organisers are particularly focused on making the event accessible for families, offering a variety of free children’s activities, made possible through the generous contributions of local businesses. In today’s challenging economic climate, the goal is to ensure that every child, regardless of financial circumstances, has the chance to experience the magic of Minerama.
The event will feature a diverse range of attractions, including the return of the beloved Jurassic Jack and the thrilling Base Zero climbing wall. The UNE Discovery Voyager will also make a special appearance, providing educational sessions for local school groups on Friday, 7 March. On Saturday, 8 March, the team from UNE Discovery will offer an “Ask an Expert” experience, where children can dive into the world of fossils, rocks, and even space rocks. With the assistance of Stargazing Adventures, attendees may even get the opportunity to see a meteorite up close and admire stunning space photography.
For those in need of a break, the Rockhounds Rest Area, located in the old pavilion next to the Showgrounds event ring, offers a comfortable space for parents to relax with a coffee while children participate in free creative activities, such as rock painting, face painting, and making Rockhound badges. The Glen Innes Mineral and Gem Club, situated near the Bourke Street entrance, will also host fossicking activities and lucky dips for young rock enthusiasts.
