joanne austen brown

Author Joanne Austen Brown moved to Glen Innes in September 2024. Joanne is an author of Historical Romance, Murder Mystery and Historical Time Travel fiction.

The Glen Innes Severn Public & TAFE Library is fortunate to be hosting Joanne for an Author Talk on Saturday 26 April, 10am- 12pm. We asked her a few questions, so we could get to know her beforehand.

Why Glen Innes?

We wanted to come to a small town with a great community spirit, also the weather had to be cooler. Glen Innes fits the bill perfectly.

Do you only write Historical Romance?

Yes and no. Now I am writing a WW2 romance based on a true story. Romances are supposed to have a happy ending. But in life that is not always the case. However, this is a story that must be told.

What will you be speaking about at the Library?

I’ll be speaking about all of my books. What has inspired me and what kind of research has gone into the books.

What was your job in your previous life?

I trained as an infant/primary teacher. But then I had kids. When they had grown, I became a Practice Manger to my husband’s legal firm. I did that for 16 years. I have been a fulltime author since 2019.

When was your first novel published?

My first novel was published in 2020. I now have 6 novels published, 3 novellas and 1 short story. My 7th novel is coming out in November 2025.

The Library has all of Joanne’s books available for loan at the library for those who would like to read them. Bookings for this FREE author talk can be made by contacting the Library on 6730 2600.
