On Sunday afternoon, 30th March, the New England Conservatorium of Music [NECOM] presented the first of three musical afternoons which form its Heritage Homestead Series 2025.

rosecroftHeld in the old stables at Rosecroft, the home of Mike and Belinda Norton, the Homestead Series celebrates the architectural heritage of the Glen Innes district with concerts that feature musicians from the Conservatorium in Armidale. The musicians performing at Rosecroft were Hester Wright, soprano, Joanna Fairs-Wu, violin, Robert Manley, violoncello,  and Matthew Ardern, harpsichord and pianoforte.

After a program of fine chamber music, guests enjoyed a reception in the lovely garden, catered by Jude Cox and her team from the Deepwater branch of the Royal Far West. Each of the tickets purchased for the concert included a donation to Royal Far West, and a delighted Jude was presented with a cheque for $1000, which will support Far West’s mission to improve the health and wellbeing of children living in rural and remote areas.

The next concert in the Heritage Homestead Series will be at Waterloo Station, Matheson on Sunday 27 July, followed by the last concert at Deepwater Station on Sunday 26 October. Tickets may be booked through try.booking.com or by calling the NECOM office on 6788 2135.
