IPART PUBLISHES GLEN INNES SEVERN COUNCIL SRV APPLICATION

The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) published Glen Innes Severn Council’s Special Rate Variation (SRV) application at 11.59pm on Monday 16 February 2026. IPART has opened a three-week community consultation period from 17 February to 9 March 2026, during which residents, businesses and stakeholders can provide feedback directly to IPART via an online survey or written submission. Council’s application seeks approval for a cumulative Special Rate Variation of 48.3 per cent over the life of the application. New Playground Opens

Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan was on-hand to unveil the new, $1.2 million play space at Glen Innes’ Anzac Park at its official opening on Saturday, 7 February. $500,000 was secured from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund Round 5 which kick-started the project. Another $600,000 was contributed by the Federal Government and another $100,000 by the Glen Innes Severn Council. The new play area includes inclusive, imaginative, sensory, active, adventure and nature-based equipment. Glen Innes Severn’s Australia Day celebrations began in true country style with a “breakfast of champions” at Red Range Hall, where the Red Range Hall Committee pulled off a near-miraculous loaves and fishes effort. Locals and visitors alike enjoyed barbecued sausage and egg, steak and onion sandwiches, with generously donated steak from Rangers Valley earning particular appreciation. Red Range Hall was literally bursting at the seams with a terrific crowd of locals and visitors gathered for an 8am breakfast, the first celebration of Australia Day for 2026 in the Glen Innes Severn Local Government Area. The local Red Range Hall Committee had set up an impressive display of milk cans and cream separators as well as some examples of the first teat cups as a nod to the importance of the dairying industry to Red Ranges early history. LGNSW BOARD SUPPORTS BIOCHAR INDUSTRY ROADMAP MOTION

Glen Innes Severn Council has received confirmation from Local Government NSW (LGNSW) that its final outstanding motion from the 2025 Annual Conference, relating to the Australian Biochar Industry 2030 Roadmap, has now been formally supported by the LGNSW Board.
