Vietnam Veterans’ Day marked at ANZAC Park

A commemorative service was held on Monday at ANZAC Park in Glen Innes to mark Vietnam Veterans’ Day. Representatives from several organisations attended and laid wreaths in honour of those who served, including the RSL, Legacy, and Glen Innes Severn Council. Students Matt and Lara from St Joseph’s Primary School also took part in the ceremony, laying a wreath on behalf of their school.

Plans for a major upgrade of the ANZAC Park playground are moving ahead, with the project set to transform the existing play area into a nature-themed, inclusive, and engaging space for children of all ages. Consultation on the ANZAC Nature Play Park has now concluded, with Glen Innes Severn Council thanking residents for their input into the project. On Sunday morning, members of the Glen Innes community gathered at Anzac Park to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Korean War. Despite cold winds and grey skies, the rain held off as veterans, school representatives, and local residents came together to honour those who served in the conflict—particularly the Australians who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Flags in the memorial park were flown at half mast in tribute. Several wreaths were laid during the service, which was organised by the Glen Innes RSL Sub-Branch.
