Paul Jopson loves his work.  He keeps an immaculate green at the Glen Innes Bowling Club (Bowlo) and he enjoys introducing novices to the delights of bowling.  But another of his superpowers is his own bowling ability. Tennis event a real hit!

A fantastic weekend of high quality tennis and socialising was enjoyed by all who attended the inaugural Seniors Tennis Tournament run by the Glen Innes Tennis Club held on the 8th/9th November. Around 35 players entered the tournament coming from the local district and beyond with people travelling as far as from Armidale, Inverell, Grafton, Port Macquarie, Ballina, Tamworth and Sydney.  A number of visitors took the opportunity to shop, sightsee and dine out while at Glen Innes. Bowlo’s 68th Rose Carnival Blooms with Success

The Glen Innes Bowling Club’s much-loved Rose Carnival celebrated its 68th year in fine style, drawing bowlers from across the state — and beyond — for a weekend of top-quality play, camaraderie, and community spirit. With a total prize pool of $6,000, the three-day event was a major drawcard for bowlers from 21 clubs including Mooloolaba, Coolum Beach, Blakehurst, Redcliffe, Millmerran, Warwick, Tenterfield, Raymond Terrace, Forster, Stanthorpe, Maclean, Coffs Harbour, Urunga, Woolgoolga, Inverell, Guyra, and Bingara. Six Glen Innes Vet golfers recently headed off for two weeks of Veterans’ golf in Leeton and Griffith. Leeton was the first stop, and while the course proved a little too good for our players this time, they returned with plenty of great stories and new golf friendships. The Glen Innes District Tennis Association is calling for entries to our inaugural Seniors Tennis Tournament to be held on the 8th and 9th November, 2025.  Entries are open to any player over the age of 30 years with events for singles, mens/ladies/mixed doubles in various age and combined age groups.  This will be a round robin tournament with events held in morning or afternoon sessions - players are welcome to play all weekend or just choose one session as they choose. On October 3rd to 6th the WKKF Koshiki Karate World championships were held in Brisbane. Representing 13 countries, over 200 competitors put their best foot forward to bring home World rankings. You couldn’t have asked for better weather for the Glen Innes Spring Show Jumping Championships — three glorious, sun-drenched days that showed off our Showground in all its springtime splendour. Over the October long weekend, 81 riders took to the arenas for more than 740 jumping rounds of action, skill, and sportsmanship. The Great Global Greyhound Walk (GGGW) is an annual dog-walking event that brings together sighthounds and their owners to raise awareness of sighthounds as pets. Beginning as the Great British Greyhound Walk in 2010, it expanded over time to involve other sighthounds and become a global event. In 2024, a total of 13,383 sighthounds walked at 511 events in 42 countries around the world. In addition to the relatively well-known greyhounds, whippets and Italian greyhounds, the sighthounds category also includes lurchers, deerhounds, wolfhounds, salukis, Afghan hounds, borzois and the Spanish galgos podencos, and Ibizan hounds.
