Seventh Councillor Announced

Mr David Scott has been named as the successful final candidate in the Glen Innes Severn Council election. After the shock resignation of Rob Banham shortly after having been sworn in, unsuccessful candidates were given the opportunity for another run at a vacant position in a “count back” election. The count back election took place at 11 o’clock this morning, with David Scott being declared the successful candidate shortly thereafter. Mann River Bridge Re-Opens

The newly constructed Mann River Bridge on Mt Mitchell Road is now open to traffic, with final approach works completed last week. However, residents and commuters should prepare for a temporary closure later this month, as additional safety work is set to be carried out. The bridge will be closed from 25 November to 28 November to allow crews to install safety barriers and dismantle the temporary walkways used during construction. Bald Nob Road Rehabilitation Complete

The Bald Nob Road upgrade project has officially reached completion, with bitumen sealing now finished and the road fully open to traffic. This extensive $5.6 million project, primarily funded by the Australian Government and co-funded by the Council, was delivered in stages by Council's construction team, with help from specialist contractors, over the past 18 months.
