Vietnam Veterans’ Day marked at ANZAC Park

A commemorative service was held on Monday at ANZAC Park in Glen Innes to mark Vietnam Veterans’ Day. Representatives from several organisations attended and laid wreaths in honour of those who served, including the RSL, Legacy, and Glen Innes Severn Council. Students Matt and Lara from St Joseph’s Primary School also took part in the ceremony, laying a wreath on behalf of their school.

Plans for a major upgrade of the ANZAC Park playground are moving ahead, with the project set to transform the existing play area into a nature-themed, inclusive, and engaging space for children of all ages. Consultation on the ANZAC Nature Play Park has now concluded, with Glen Innes Severn Council thanking residents for their input into the project. Glen Innes Severn Council is calling on the community to contribute ideas for the future of the heritage-listed Glen Innes “Powerhouse,” a site rich in local history and industrial character. At its Extraordinary Meeting on 7 March 2025, the Council agreed to subdivide the land at 148 Church Street. The rear portion—approximately 2,335 m²—encompasses the historic former Glen Innes Power Station and its adjoining sealed carpark. Glen Innes Helps in Mid North Coast Flood Recovery

Glen Innes Severn Council has supported recovery efforts in the MidCoast Council area following the severe flooding event that struck the Mid North Coast in late May. The flood, classified as a 1-in-500-year event, caused widespread damage to infrastructure and local road networks across the region. In response, a coordinated inter-Council support initiative—led by Lake Macquarie City Council—was launched to assist with emergency recovery works.
